Lack of Techniques - A Typical Example
Mr Tushar (name changes) appeared for his Final JEE (Advanced) exam. Having scored 310+ in his JEE (Mains) he was strong contender for top rank in JEE (Advanced). He, his family, and his institute all are expecting him in top hundred.
He was well prepared and was confident. In final examination, he solved his physics and chemistry sections in two hours. He's now having one hour for his Mathematics section. It was sufficient time for him. In usual practice Sessions, he used to solve mathematics section in one hour. However, he messed up today. Stress just built up on him. And he couldn't solve to his expectation. His final rank is AIR 442.
Tushar ended up in IIT Kharagpur instead of IIT Powai. What went wrong? As per Tushar, had he got one and a half hours for Mathematics section, he could have finished the mathematics section in one hour. But it is very difficult and stressful to solve mathematics section in one hour when only one hour is left. There is no buffer time. Stress builds up culminating in mistakes.
Had Tushar followed 45 minute cycle technique, he would have solved Physics and Chemistry Sections in 1 and 1/2 hour. That would have given him required one and a half hours for mathematics. After solving mathematics in one hour without stress, he could have solved some of remaining difficult questions of physics and chemistry in rest 30 minutes. The negligence towards examination technique costed him his rank.
All the Best
